Warning signs to watch for
- The engine cranks slowly or only clicks when you turn the key.
- Your headlights dim at idle or flicker when you use accessories.
- The battery or charging warning light comes on while driving.
- A dashboard light, such as the airbag light, stays on after starting.
- Fuses keep blowing, or a power feature works only some of the time.
- You need a jump start more than once in a short period.
How we work
We test the battery, starter and alternator first, because they cause most no-start complaints. Then we trace the circuit with a meter and a scan tool. A digital inspection with photos shows you the failed part or damaged wiring, so the diagnosis is not a mystery.
You get a written quote before we repair anything. Nothing is done without your approval. We confirm the fix by retesting the whole circuit under load, not just by starting the engine once and calling it done. Then we clear any stored faults.
Battery, alternator and starter
These three parts work as a team, so a fault in one can look like a fault in another.
- Battery: stores the energy to start the engine. Most last several years, and heat shortens that life.
- Alternator: recharges the battery and powers the vehicle while running. A weak one drains a good battery.
- Starter: turns the engine over. It fails with a click, a grind, or no sound.
An airbag or SRS light means the safety system has stored a fault. We read it and check the cause so the system is ready when needed.
Good to know
A battery can test fine in the morning and fail later in cold or hot weather. Loose or corroded terminals cause many problems that look like a dead battery, so we always inspect and clean them first.
